Part 3 - Getting the Photo ID
Right, now that we know what the tag does lets go use it. Here comes the slightly awkward bit but don't worry, take it one step at a time and you will soon be inserting images like a pro.
First we need the photos id number. I have enough problems remembering my pin number, there's no chance of me remembering this monster of a number so I resort to cut and paste for this.
If your photo happens to be a recent one and is displayed in your magically appearing “Recent Flickr photo box” then here is how you get to its id.
- Hover your mouse over the image and look at your status bar at the bottom of your browser. You should see something like:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/10949705@N02/1009352630
This is the url to your photo on flickr. The first bit is easy enough, its the web address of flickr. Now the numbers. In this example
109049705@N02 – Is my flickr user id (flickr-user:id)
then we have 1009352630 which is, you guessed it, my photos id (flickr-photo:id)
Yeah so all I need to do is take a note of the number at the end of the url and i have my photo id.
Oops no pen and paper handy, no problem just hover over the image you want, right click with your mouse and choose properties from the list. - Now a box will appear and you should see Address: http:// etc near the top. Hover your mouse over the right edge of this box. Your cursor should change, when this happens hold down the left mouse button and move your mouse to the right (drag right). The box should change size, keep dragging the mouse until you can see the whole address as above. Now all you need to do is highlight the number at the end of the address and copy it (either right click, then choose copy or if you prefer the keyboard press Ctrl C.
